The Position
Under direct supervision, a Laborer performs a wide variety of unskilled maintenance and construction duties to include lifting and moving of heavy objects and performs related work as required.

We are a full-service city comprised of nine departments, that include our own city staffed Fire and Police departments. We are a mid-sized organization providing a variety of services with a workforce dedicated to the future of Fullerton.
Education: Completion of the sixth grade.
ANDExperience: None. Six months performing manual labor duties is preferred but not required
Special Requirements:
Valid Class C California Driver’s License and acceptable driving record at time of appointment and throughout employment in this position. Employees in this classification will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles Government Pull Notice Program.
As a Laborer, you will perform varied duties. Examples of tasks include:
- Clean gutters, other drainage structure and sidewalks.
- Loading and unloading supplies.
- Lifting and moving heavy objects.
- Performing basic grounds keeping work such as raking, weeding, planting ground cover, watering, pesticide application, removing debris, and undergrowth.
- Cleaning swimming pools, recreation facilities or other City facilities.
- Cleaning Park area, public restrooms and picnic areas.
- Cleaning street sweepers and other equipment as assigned.
- Operating a variety of manual power tools and cleaning tools used on the job.
- Assisting in planting, pruning, removing trees and shrubs.
- Assisting Park, facilities and street maintenance crews by performing routine labor work.
- Emptying trash receptacles.
- Driving a vehicle on City business.
All employment offers, including appointment offers to City of Fullerton employees, are conditional based upon the successful completion of a medical examination performed by the City's designated physician, at City expense. Medical exams are administered to assess an individual's ability to perform the physical requirements of this position. In addition, City of Fullerton employees appointed to safety sensitive classifications and all new hires will undergo a drug screen.
All new hires will be fingerprinted. Fingerprints are verified with the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
