Seasonal Parks Maintenance

Assists with the maintenance of parks and grounds areas as well as facilities and equipment by performing various manual tasks. Â Performs construction, janitorial, and custodial tasks involved in the maintenance of City streets, parks, and property. Â This position typically works 35-40 hours per week.Â

• Works in the construction, maintenance, and repair of parks and recreation facilities, equipment, and buildings and grounds; performs associated paperwork.
• Performs street tree maintenance, turf and ball field maintenance, and landscaping and mowing activities as directed.
• Performs janitorial and custodial tasks involved in the maintenance of City streets, parks, and property; including maintenance and custodial tasks related to restroom facilities.
• Drive(s) a city vehicle.
• Handles equipment safely and appropriately; uses appropriate safety equipment when performing essential job functions.
• Participates in snow removal when necessary.
• This is heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required
  
  

Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. A typical way to qualify is a High School Diploma or equivalent. Â

Licensure or Certification Requirements

• Current and valid Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driver's abstract to meet criteria for insurability established by the City of Gahanna.                    Â

• Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas using the spoken word.
• Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
• Visual acuity is required for color perception, preparing, and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly, or fabrication of parts at or within arm's length, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surroundings and activities.
• The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibrations, hazards, and atmospheric conditions.
• The worker will be required to follow all safety policies and procedures and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.

Working Conditions

Â Work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions.
