General Definition of Work
Performs manual and semi-skilled work in operation and maintenance work at Water Treatment Plant. Performing grounds keeping duties and maintenance related work as apparent or assigned. Operates a dump truck, front end loader, etc... Work is performed under the supervision of the Chief Operator or lead Shift Operator.
Qualification Requirements

Essential Functions
The main essential function is to operate water treatment plant according to state guidelines, which includes testing, operating laboratory equipment, handling of hazardous chemicals, adjustments to chemical feed pumps, filling of water tanks, maintaining sedimentation basins and drying beds, checking water pump stations and valves, and flushing hydrants in the distribution system. Operates a variety of mowers and equipment in grass cutting and trimming operations, operates weedeater and leaf blower, removes debris and trash from City properties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
General knowledge of the safe use, operation and preventative maintenance of the equipment to which assigned, ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions, ability to use math equations and formulas, ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, general knowledge of occupational hazards connected with water related activities, and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with associates.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the regular exertion of up to 50 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking, or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, tasting or smelling, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires sitting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to vibration and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions(non-weather), working in high, precarious places, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and exposure to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a loud noise location(e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic).

Pay: $42,452.00 - $64,255.00 per year
