Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as Chief of Police. As the Chief of Police, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all law enforcement activities within our jurisdiction. This is a critical leadership role that requires strong decision-making abilities, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to public safety.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic plans and policies to ensure effective law enforcement operations
- Provide leadership and guidance to police officers and staff members
- Coordinate and collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations
- Conduct criminal investigations and ensure proper documentation of evidence
- Enforce local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Maintain order and public safety during emergencies or special events
- Handle conflict management situations with professionalism and tact
- Ensure the well-being of animals in cases involving animal handling
- Oversee loss prevention efforts to minimize theft or damage to property
- Provide first aid assistance when necessary
Experience:
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Certificate or degree in law enforcement or a related field
Pursuant to K.S.A. 74-5616. Eligibility for appointment as officer; certification by commission required; suspension, revocation, reprimand, censure or denial of certification; judicial review.
- Previous experience in a leadership position within a law enforcement agency
- Strong knowledge of criminal investigation techniques and procedures
- Proficient in conflict management strategies
- Familiarity with loss prevention methods
- Ability to handle animals safely and responsibly
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership abilities with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
