SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Reports to the City of Gallup Fire Marshal: Schedules and conducts inspections of existing structures construction and remodel sites for compliance with fire codes. Coordinates with building officials for fire related code review and approval of occupancy permits and business licenses. Responds to and supports fire ground operations if requested by the Incident Commander. Conducts fire investigations. Provides public education in fire prevention including giving talks demonstrations and presentations before community groups schools and other organizations or institutions as assigned. Determines compliance and violations with City Ordinance for weed/litter controls sewage and illegal dumping.Additional Information
STARTING HOURLY PAY: $50,710.00 - $54,912.00 - DOQMINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- IFSAC Fire Fighter II
- IFSAC Fire Instructor I
- IFSAC Fire Officer I
- Six (6) years of experience in Firefighting Familiar with Fire Codes adopted and currently in use by the City of Gallup Experience in Fire Prevention and Fire Safety Education
- Valid driver’s license that meets the City of Gallup insurability requirements; (Must be able to obtain a NM Class E driver’s license)
- May participate in monthly on-call schedule and duties as directed
- CPR BLS Certified
- EMT-Basic Employee will be entered into a Career Development Plan
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree in Fire Science or related field
- IFSAC Fire Inspector I
- IFSAC Fire Inspector II Fire Instructor II
