ABOUT THE POSITION
The City is seeking a motivated individual who excels at being a team player with strong leadership abilities. The ideal candidate will have the ability to efficiently perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and installation tasks. This person should be a self-starter, requiring minimal supervision.
Under general supervision of the Parks Maintenance Supervisor or Parks Superintendent, performs a variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair to facilities, swimming pools, landscaping and park sites and performs related work as required.
Parks Worker II: Incumbents are expected to perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and installation functions and/or tasks without constant instruction and/or supervision. Incumbents are expected to identify maintenance deficiencies and make necessary corrections. This classification is distinguished from the Parks Worker I position in that the Parks Worker II position may have increased responsibility and oversee a small work crew. Parks Worker II may be expected to provide on-the-job orientation and training to new, temporary, seasonal, or part-time employees assigned to assist in completion of assigned functions, tasks, and duties.

- Participates in the work of a crew that maintains, repairs and cleans parks, and facilities, and other City rights-of-way including the trimming, seeding, planting, weeding, watering, irrigation checks and repairs, pruning and cultivation of trees, shrubs, and other landscaped areas.
- Monitors City swimming pool system; verifies pool chemistry and adds chemicals or adjusts system as necessary to meet standards; ensures the pool remains clean and safe for public usage.
- Cleans and maintains facilities, restrooms, and other assigned facilities; maintains replaces, repairs and installs, recreation equipment in parks.
- Picks up and removes debris from parks; maintains athletic fields and landscape areas throughout the City.
- May lead work crews in accomplishing assigned duties.
- Prepares department memos, presentations, and reports as needed.
Parks Worker II: Six (6) months of recent work experience in landscape or facility maintenance work and semi-skilled maintenance experience in a variety of craft areas.
Licenses and Certificates: Must possess and maintain a valid California class C driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.
Physical Demands: Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform physical work including: frequent standing for long periods of time; frequent walking, bending and squatting; frequent lifting up to 50 pounds with occasional lifting up to 70 pounds; dexterity to use basic hand and power tools and equipment, drive a motor vehicle and/or maintenance equipment, constant use of overall vision; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone and/or radio. Must be willing to work out doors in all weather conditions with exposure to loud noise, traffic, and potentially hazardous conditions such as exposure to chemicals, fumes and other environmental substances.
