Sweeps, strips, scrubs, and waxes floors; dusts and polishes furniture and woodwork; replenishes supplies; empties and cleans waste receptacles; washes windows and walls; assists in moving and arranging furniture and equipment; turns out lights and locks doors and windows; replaces light bulbs; maintains equipment and materials; cleans up ground by picking up paper and trash; cleans restrooms; shampoos rugs; may drive vehicle in performance of duties; performs other related duties as may be required.
Organizational Responsibilities
An employee in this Class is supervised by a designated manager or a lead custodian; may be assigned to work independently, with only periodical review of work.Education and Experience
High school graduate or equivalent G.E.D. and a verifiable general background and work history, preferably including some janitorial or related duties.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, and to work without direct supervision.
Physical Demands and Working Condition
Performance of the essential duties of this potion include the ability to exert a considerable amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects; to exert a moderate to extensive amount of physical effort involving stooping, crouching, climbing and lifting in the performance of manual labor; requires sufficient hand/eye coordination to operate a variety of tools and equipment used in the performance of daily tasks. May require lifting material of 50 pounds. Actual working conditions may vary based on specific work assignments. Must have the ability to work around electrical currents, cleaning chemicals and toxic waste in a safe manner. Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays and special events as needed.
LicenseA valid California Driver's License, Class C, have and maintain.
