Under general direction, performs tree trimming, spraying, removing and planting work on City trees; performs tree surgery work and does other related park duties as required.Representative Duties
Performs tree trimming duties using Tower unit, ladders, chain saws and other hand tools; uses climbing gear, rigging and other equipment needed in the topping of trees; performs tree surgery work and the planting and cultivation of new trees; performs trimming, pruning of street trees and tying and staking of small trees; sprays, cultivates, irrigates and fertilizes all City trees and shrubs; uses chipper on brush and limbs; does related park duties as assigned.
Candidates must pass all examinations to be placed on the eligible list.

Education and Experience
High school graduate or equivalent, AND two (2) years' experience in tree trimming.

Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of the kinds of common shade and ornamental trees; of the method and equipment used in planting, pruning, trimming and removal of trees and shrubs; ability to learn routines and procedures; average mechanical aptitude; to follow written and oral instructions and to communicate effectively with the public.

A valid California Driver's License, Class C, at time of appointment. MUST OBTAIN A CALIFORNIA DRIVER'S LICENSE, CLASS "B" DURING THE 6-MONTH PROBATIONARY PERIOD.

Salary : $58,824 - $75,072
