Summary
Provides direction and leadership for the Grounds Attendant and Temp worker crew at the landfill. Responsible for performing basic grounds landscaping maintenance and removal of litter and debris from public roadways and open land areas around the landfill for the Hinton Landfill.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Lead Grounds Attendant and Temporary worker crew at the Landfill in the collection of blowing litter at the Landfill and surrounding area in compliance with local, State and Federal regulations.
- Provide daily assignments and manage any changes to the work assignments as needed throughout the day.
- Follow guidelines and departmental procedures for providing appropriate recordkeeping of litter control activities as required by the Site Operating Plan as approved by the TCEQ.
- Collect and dispose of litter and debris from right of ways, grounds, roadsides, slopes, and fence areas.
- Operate line trimmer, riding lawnmower, and other small / light equipment, etc.
- Operate power washer to clean facilities and equipment.
- Perform minor preventive maintenance on tools and equipment as needed.
- Perform general housekeeping in shop and repair facilities.
- Operate a city vehicle to assist in carrying out routine maintenance.
- Perform traffic control and truck spotter duties on occasion as backup to operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment
The incumbent works with frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and / or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk. May be exposed to extremes of heat and cold, rain, humidity, insects, noxious odors, fumes, and physical stress from exertion and lifting. Exposed to physical exertion such as bending, lifting, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing. Ability to lift, push, and push up to 50 pounds several times daily.
