Essential Duties and Responsibilities
When Assigned to Animal Services
Responsible for performing routine animal care and related duties at the Garland Animal Services' Adoption Center and animal shelter including medical evaluations, behavior evaluation, cleaning and maintaining kennel areas, socializing with adoptable animals, and assisting citizens interested in adoption.
When Assigned to Parks Recreation & Cultural Arts
Prepare and clean up buildings for daily operations or special events, including setting up tables, chairs, and technical theater equipment. Assist with cleaning carpets, floors, windows, and minor repairs and maintenance. May perform semi-skilled customer service to the public such as providing program information and assisting with registration.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Up to 1 year of relevant experience
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments.
May involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, animal waste, and various weather conditions.
Tasks require walking or standing for extended periods; lifting and carrying 25-50 pounds; and bending, reaching, grasping, and turning objects. (Animal Services)
May require working early mornings, late nights, weekends, or holidays.
