Nature of Work:
The Craftsman performs a wide variety of duties including, but not limited to, general work in carpentry, painting, and drywall under the general supervision of the Building Superintendent.
Brief Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs some repairs and maintenance of municipal buildings and property.
- Performs such duties as painting, repairing doors, locks, furniture, cabinets, shelves, etc.
- Performs some electrical work not requiring a licensed electrician such as replacing cords, fuses, and light fixtures.
- May spend a portion of time working on the grounds cutting grass, trimming shrubs, and doing grounds maintenance duties.
- Complies with the maintenance work order system processes.
- Pick up and load materials, supplies, and staging. Performs other duties as assigned and/or required.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of trace tools and techniques used in general maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of the operation and use of hand/power tools and equipment.
- Ability to interpret work orders, perform heavy labor, and plan and organize work.
- Ability to establish/maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
- Must have High School Diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license, and three (3) years of vocational training or job experience.
