DEPARTMENT: REDEVELOPMENT JOB TITLE: DEMOLITION COORDINATOR
STATUS: Full-Time JOB CATEGORY: CLERICAL
NATURE OF WORK:
Supervises and coordinates the day-to-day management of the Demolition Project.Responsible for all activities involved regarding the actual demolition of structures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED;
- Attend meetings, conferences and administrative sessions, suggesting recommendations and reports pertaining to the demolition process and goals.
- Assist with the coordination activities of staff and licensed contractors.
- Distribute complaints to inspectors and code compliance.
- Oversee the preparation of papers and correspondence of a legal nature, such as petitions to owners, and check records to determine if property is eligible for demolition.
- Collect Data in the field concerning unsafe structures.
- Manage unsafe structure/demolition database.
- Coordinate planned demolition w/ other departments.
- Provide a monthly written report regarding the status of unsafe structures.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Under the direct supervision of the Community Development Director and perform all duties requested of this position in a timely and orderly manner.
SUPERVISION EXERCISE:
This position functions as the demolition manager, overseeing the workflow of the demolition staff positions within Redevelopment.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of Unsafe Building Ordinance and demolition process State and Local.
- Knowledge of geographical areas of the City and City housing codes.
- Proficient in Excel.
