City Manager - City of George West
The City of George West is seeking an initiative-taking highly chief administrator and executive officer who shall be responsible to the city council for the efficient administration of all affairs of the city, which is a Home Rule Charter. This individual will direct and supervise the administration of all departments of the city and oversee a municipality of 34 authorized positions with an annual operating budget of $ 4.3 million. This position will also be responsible for the annual budget administration, keeping the council abreast of future capital needs, monitoring condition of machinery, equipment, buildings, and other assets, and keeping abreast of legislative updates affecting municipalities. Must possess adequate and relevant management skills, as well as specific experience with regards to municipal leadership. Applicants are required to have knowledge and experience in municipal finance administration and beneficial interaction and communication skills both orally and written with employees, citizens, and local and state organizations to include Railroad Commission of Texas and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
A bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, or other appropriate field of study as it relates to and is beneficial to city management is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years in experience at the management level in municipal government or other leadership experience in a city government environment is required.
Salary for this position will depend on the qualifications and experience of each applicant and will be a competitive rate for the position in cities with similar population size.
