This position serves as a champion for performance management, data analysis, process improvement, and organizational effectiveness. The role places a strong emphasis on building, maintaining, and analyzing departmental dashboards using Excel and Power BI to support data-driven decision-making. Additionally, the Business Systems Analyst facilitates workshops, training sessions, and process improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance across departments.Working under limited direction, this role requires employing intermediate analytical, technical, and project management skills to ensure work is completed accurately and timely. The Business Systems Analyst will also assist with the design, specification, and support of Monday.com task management systems and departmental dashboards, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and goals.
This position works closely with multiple departments to review data from various sources, analyze trends, and provide insights that inform strategic decision-making. Responsibilities also include managing performance tracking systems, task management processes using Monday.com, and business process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in project management, process improvement methodologies, and data visualization tools.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Data Analysis & Performance Management
- Develop, maintain, and improve internal and public-facing performance dashboards using Power BI, Excel, SharePoint, and Monday.com.
- Consult with departments to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop performance-tracking mechanisms.
- Conduct statistical analysis and reporting to support process improvements and organizational decision-making.
- Analyze data trends from multiple internal and external sources, identify inefficiencies, and recommend solutions.
- Develop structured performance review processes to ensure continuous monitoring of department and organizational goals.
- Acts as a technical resource, determining and translating business data into reporting needs within a variety of applications such as Excel and SQL.
- Develop data-driven reports using standard reporting tools.
Process Improvement & Project Management
- Lead Lean process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiencies.
- Manage assigned improvement projects, including stakeholder engagement, data collection, and project execution.
- Collaborate with teams to document and standardize business processes for increased efficiency.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new technology solutions to improve workflow and task management.
- Collaborate with technical staff and users to analyze business processes and translate them into detailed functional requirements.
- Utilize project management techniques to prepare and implement project plans for individual system changes/integrations.
Training & Facilitation
- Design and deliver process improvement and data analysis training for employees at all levels of the organization.
- Facilitate Lean base and Lean advanced classes, as well as other process improvement events.
- Train and support teams in the effective use of Monday.com for work plan, project, and task management.
- Support and facilitate workshops such as SWOT analyses, action planning sessions, and mission statement development.
- Lead end-user training of staff in the functional use of enterprise business systems.
- Provide guidance to other functional support staff on issues related to specific enterprise business systems.
Communication & Reporting
- Prepare and present formal and informal reports to leadership, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Develop clear and concise reports, dashboards, and presentations that communicate complex data insights in an accessible way.
- Serve as a liaison between departments, fostering cross-functional collaboration and information sharing.
- Research and analyze best practices in business process improvement and performance management.
- Serve as the primary functional expert on specific enterprise business systems.
General Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of city-wide continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive organizational data.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Organizational Development office.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training, and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Business Analytics, Industrial Psychology, Economics, Math, Public Administration, or a related field with three (3) years of full-time experience in a related field.
- A Master’s Degree may substitute for up to one (1) year of experience.
- Certifications such as Lean, CAPM, or PMP are preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Skilled in effectively implementing change management techniques to prepare user groups for new or updated system(s).

- Effective research techniques.

- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, staff at all levels, and vendors.
- Proficiency in Power BI, Excel, SharePoint, and other data visualization tools.
- Strong analytical and statistical skills to interpret and communicate data trends.
- Knowledge of Lean process improvement methodologies.
- Experience using workflow modeling software (e.g., MS Visio) and project management tools (Monday.com preferred).
- Ability to conduct research, collect data, and develop comprehensive reports.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to train and present information to diverse audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify patterns and trends from large datasets.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and shift priorities in a fast-paced, often ambiguous work environment with minimal direction.
- Skilled in facilitation, strategic planning, and team collaboration.

Hiring Range: $65,345.80 - $81,868.80, annually.
