Position Overview:
The position participates in evaluating financial information procedures to support accounting and taxation tasks, verifying the accuracy of account statements for the reference of accountants. The position may generate invoices, perform account reconciliations, analyze account receivables, contribute to budget reports, and monitor the company's financial transactions. Performs administrative processes and procedures pertaining to accounts payable, payroll submission and processing, and related payroll tax reporting and filings. Reports to the Accounting Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:
Records and submits employee timesheets, calculates/processes wage garnishments, and manages and records employee sick leave.
Administers accounts payables, including workers' compensation payments, utility payments and refunds, juror checks, and restitution payments.
Processes state and federal taxes, quarterly and annual reports and audits, and generates/issues 1099 and W-2 forms.
Creates new vendor accounts, reconciles vendor statements, ensures check copies are printed, and maintains vendor files.
Ensures accuracy in all accounting-related activities and reports.
Effectively communicates with various groups and individuals such as department staff, the general public, other City department heads and staff, customers, etc.
Serves as a backup for the Customer Service Representative.
Processes and distributes departmental mail.
Attends meetings, trainings, conferences, and seminars to enhance job knowledge and skills.
Contributes to the accounting department efficiencies and utilizes technology to maximize resources.
Performs other job duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or another related field with a minimum of two (2) years' experience in a job-related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with the ability to learn other software such as NewWorldSystems.net and accounting programs.
Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication, and basic mathematical skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to lift, reach, bend, exert force, or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds. May require sitting, standing, or walking for an extended period of time. Able to adapt in a stressful work environment. Operates standing office equipment, such as computer, printer, copier, etc.
Salary : $34,039 - $50,394
