Planner : Coordinates and assists in current and comprehensive planning activities. Case management, technical review / analysis, and presentation of recommendations on zoning changes, variances, subdivision platting, and site plan review.
Senior Planner : Under minimal supervision, performs advanced-level planning work with discretion in the fields of planning and development services for the City's Planning Department. Primary responsibilities include project management and technical lead for complex, or unique projects and ensuring compliance with City standards and timely completion including Planned Unit Developments, Development Agreements, complex zoning cases, etc. Developing presentations and content for Planning Director and Assistant Director delivery. Project Manager for development code revisions. May exercise direct supervision over assigned staff on a detailed, as-needed, or permanently assigned basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Planner :
- Reviews, manages and processes current and / or long-range planning applications / studies in conformance with the 2030 Comprehensive Plan and other development codes / standards.
- Interprets application of codes and ordinances to specific projects and responds to citizens' inquiries.
- Conducts a detailed review of applications for compliance with all codes, past actions and approvals.
- Coordinates communications with applicants and City and County departments for review, comment, and records management to ensure records are complete.
- Prepares and composes a variety of correspondence, including application responses, agendas for Planning & Zoning Commission, Board of Adjustment, and City Council meetings, Certificates of Occupancy, Development Agreements, etc.
- Prepares reports and makes presentations to the Boards, Commissions and City Council.
- Reviews case files, Site Plans, Plats, Ordinances, reports and Planning, Municipal and State codes of other municipalities and outside resources for reference research relating to code revisions.
- Assists with special projects related to code revisions, manual updates, process review, or research, etc.
- Conducts field work and site inspections.
- Attends regularly scheduled evening Commission, Subcommittee and Board meetings and special call meetings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Senior Planner :
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education, training and Experience Guidelines
Planner :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Urban Planning or a closely related field. Two (2) years of full-time work experience in municipal planning. OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Senior Planner :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Planning, Geography, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a planning-related field. Four (4) years of full-time professional work experience in municipal planning. Two (2) years of the required experience must have been in a lead or supervisory capacity.
A Master's degree in a planning-related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class "C" Texas driver's license
American Institute of Certified Planners (A.I.C.P.) preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing, vision, hearing, talking, and use of foot controls.
Occasional exposure to weather extremes, and insects when performing fieldwork.
HIRING RANGE :
Planner : $56,434.04 - $70,678.40, annually.
Senior Planner : $65,345.80 - $81,868.80, annually.
