The City of Georgetown is now accepting applications for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I or II Opening.
Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I: Under direct supervision, operates the City of Georgetown's Wastewater Treatment Plant. Ensures the efficient and continuous operation and maintenance of the plant. Conducts sampling and laboratory analysis daily to support plant operations. Inspects equipment for proper operation, and plant grounds for any safety issues or concerns. Performs general administrative and clerical work as needed to perform job. Available for after hour's emergencies to assist in corrective actions needed. Reports to the Wastewater Treatment Supervisor.
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of heavy machines and equipment. Must be able to push, stoop, lift, pull, reach, kneel, climb, crawl, crouch, carry or otherwise move objects. Work involves walking or standing for periods of time. Must be able to lift/carry weights of up to 40 pounds.
Minimum Training & Experience: Requires a High School Diploma preferably supplemented by a minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience as an Operator, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Certifications & Licenses:
Must have the following:
- South Carolina Driver's License
Must have or be able to obtain within six months of hiring:
- South Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
Must have the following or be able to obtain within one year of hiring:
- Class D Biological Wastewater Treatment Operator License
Must have the following or be able to obtain within two years of hiring:
- Class C Biological Wastewater Treatment Operator License
