What are the responsibilities and job description for the REACH Before/After School Assistant Site Director position at City of Germantown?
The City of Germantown is seeking motivated, creative individuals with proven leadership skills to execute the vision and mission of the REACH Extended School Program. The REACH (Recreation-Education-Art-Community-Health) program is managed by the City's Parks & Recreation Department and is designed to provide the perfect combination of recreation, education, art, community and health to enrich the educational experience of primary students within the Germantown Municipal School District.
SCHEDULE:
Riverdale and Farmington
Before Care Hours: 6:30am-8:15am
After Care Hours: 2:30pm-6:00pm
Dogwood and Forest Hill
Before Care Hours: 6:30am-8:30am
After Care Hours: 2:45pm-6:00pm
- The Site Director along with the Assistant Site Director will be responsible for daily site management.
- Serve as the Site Director in their absence.
- Monitor the general welfare and safety of children.
- Ensure REACH Policies and Procedures are being implemented and followed.
- Supervise, train and evaluate staff pertaining to the day-to-day operations of your site.
- Establish open communication and good rapport with each parent.
- Assist with monthly newsletter information and distribution.
- Work with supervisor to identify programming needs, plan & prepare a weekly activities schedule and maintain inventory of equipment & supplies.
- Maintain operational records and reports, including staff files, participant enrollment and paperwork, registration reports, attendance, and sign in and out sheets.
- Handle disciplinary issues appropriately and timely and report to your supervisor as required.
- Ensure the child care site meets all criteria as outlined in the Department of Health Services requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized area within the school property.
- Establish a network of contacts within the school to ensure proper communication is being transferred including use of space and special events that may interfere with extended care programming.
Knowledge of rules & regulations governing after school programs & childcare activities as outlined by DHS
Knowledge of recreation activities for children, adolescents and special populations
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work with diverse populations
Ability to direct, coach, and maintain positive working relationships
Ability to work independently and manage multiple activities
Physical ability to perform job duties, including ability to lift up to 40 pounds to set up for programs and events
Must be available for morning and afternoon shifts
- Be over the age of 18 with a High School Diploma or equivalent AND have four years experience in a group child care setting.
- Two years (60 hours) of college with 30 hours in education, business management, youth development (or related field) AND two years experience in a group child care setting.
- Have graduated from an accredited four-year college AND one year experience in a group child care setting.
- Management experience is preferred.
- Must be CPR and First Aid Certified or the ability to obtain, and possess a valid driver's license.
A background check and physical will be conducted.
