The Solid Waste Manager assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Operates a refuse truck along an assigned route to collect and transport solid waste.
- Performs equipment inspections and minor maintenance; reports serious maintenance needs to supervisor.
- Maintains work logs via on-board computer, updates route data.
- Completes work and service orders.
- Assembles and cleans containers; delivers containers to customers.
- Welds and repairs dumpsters.
- Operates equipment to collect yard waste.
- Operates a snowplow as assigned.
- Performs related duties.
- Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, and repair principles.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Knowledge of city streets and landmarks.
- Skill in planning, organization, and decision making.
- Skill in providing customer services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
- The work is typically performed outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggle, or gloves.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to possession of a high school diploma or GED.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) issued by the State of Wyoming.
