POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Public Works Director, the Seasonal Pool Manager is a temporary/seasonal, full-time, exempt position under FLSA which performs skilled and semi-skilled work monitoring, managing and maintaining the municipal pool.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility;
- Properly checks and maintains pool chemicals and reports any deviations to the Director of Public Works;
- Supervises seasonal pool staff;
- Reviews time cards for accuracy;
- Manages concessions;
- Notifies the Public Works Directors of any issues involving pool infrastructure, patrons, staff, etc.;
- Acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency;
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services;
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service; and
- Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
· Assists other departments as the need arises;
· Performs other duties as deemed necessary or assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Experience: Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well within one month of employment.
Education: High school diploma or GED. This employee must possess valid lifeguard certification earned from a recognized training source approved by the City of Girard. This employee must be CPR certified. Certified lifeguard instructor preferred.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of safety and rescue methods and procedures. Ability to follow directions and a strong work ethic.
Decision Making: Decision making is a factor in this position.
Supervision: This employee works with direct supervision from the Public Works Director.
Financial Accountability: This employee is responsible for the safe operation of departmental equipment but does not participate in the annual budget process. This employee will handle and record cash transactions.
Personal Relations: Daily contact with supervisory personnel, other City departments and general public is expected. All interactions must be professional.
Working Conditions: Adverse working conditions exist. Exposure to potentially dangerous and/or life-threatening situations involving water rescue. Subject to working irregular and extended periods and under fatigue and physical exhaustion. May be exposed to infectious and/or communicable diseases.
Physical Requirements: Manual labor including the ability to operate heavy machinery, and lift heavy loads is required daily within this position. Manual labor including lifting and carrying heavy objects, bending, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, running, driving, pushing, pulling, carrying and climbing is required daily to fulfill the duties of this position. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and move more than 75 pounds and frequently lift 25 pounds.
