The Director of Engineering and Architectural Services for the City of Glendale oversees the overall direction, planning, and management of the Engineering Department, ensuring it aligns with the City's mission, vision, and values. Responsibilities
The Director is responsible for establishing significant departmental policies, developing long-term programs, and addressing complex technical and administrative challenges. Additionally, this position manages various administrative and operational aspects of the department, including budget preparation, personnel management, purchasing, performance measurement, and strategic planning.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Public Administration, or a related field, along with five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in design, construction, and progressively responsible managerial experience. Experience in a municipal or government setting, particularly in managing infrastructure operations, is strongly preferred. A Master's degree is also desirable.
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.
