What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solid Waste Services Representative position at City of Glendale (AZ)?
Incumbent will market solid waste services to increase the number of commercial customers within the City of Glendale service area, perform inspections, research and resolve service issues with existing customers, and review development and remodel plans to ensure collection service aligns with Solid Waste requirements.
- Develops, promotes and implements a Solid Waste disposal program designed to increase the number of commercial customers within the City of Glendale service area.
- Inspects and monitors commercial and private properties for compliance in regard to City codes and other county, state or federal regulations.
- Implements effective marketing techniques including in-person sales calls, cold calls, advertising, development of promotional materials and direct mailing to potential, existing and former commercial accounts.
- Establishes service agreements with commercial customers.
- Conducts field audits and on-site visits to inspect, monitor and evaluate refuse customers and determine appropriate service needs.
- Creates, maintains and updates master list and data on service needs and fees for commercial accounts including type of service, capacity, collection frequency, days of service, location and access.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for commercial refuse customers; researches and resolves service issues by meeting with customers to address concerns such as collection, overweight issues, unsanitary conditions, lack of access, etc.
- Analyzes customer service satisfaction and needs of business community and makes recommendations for service modifications and improvements.
- Reviews development and remodel plans to ensure trash services align with Solid Waste requirements; researches and monitors new proposed annexation areas to ensure service vehicles may safely provide service to the area in compliance with City code.
- Conducts research and analyzes facilities and services, rate structure and other relative data, as well as the impact of new Federal, State and county regulations regarding solid waste collection and disposal.
- Reviews monthly billing system and resolves billing complaints with customers.
- Monitors and enforce commercial refuse hauler permit program to ensure that commercial haulers are in compliance with permit requirements and City code.
- Issues notice of ordinance violations and may testify in court.
- Assists supervisor or crew leader on investigations of property damage complaints.
- Prepares and presents written and verbal reports to management on solid waste issues.
- Coordinates and implements special projects as assigned.
- Operates a City vehicle.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
