The ideal candidate will interact well with all customers including volunteers, community stakeholders, City staff, and the public at large. Candidates whose primary job assignments have included real-time resolution of customer needs, basic project coordination, or Library experience are highly desirable. The current vacancy is a maximum of 16 hours per week on average.
Some of the typical duties of the Library Aide I include but are not limited to, the following :
- May work with a team providing, planning, and / or directing in library programming, special projects, tours, etc.
- Opens, closes, and secures library building
- Supplies public copiers and printers with paper, ink, and toner
- Assists in keeping all areas of the Library in a clean, neat and orderly condition
- Conducts collection maintenance and inventory control
- May assist customers with a variety of transactions, equipment, and questions; may resolve issues with overdue, damaged, and lost items
- May collect fines and fees
- May assist with preparing new and replacement material for circulation
- Assist with meeting room use, including meeting space and / or event set-up and tear-down
- May perform light building maintenance duties
- May assist in the review and improvement of procedures
- May answer and direct telephone calls to the appropriate person / department
Minimum Qualifications :
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Applicants must be able to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; demonstrate outstanding customer service skills; organize items numerically and alphabetically; read and write the English language; follow directions with special attention to detail; work independently; and maintain effective and positive relationships with coworkers.
Knowledge of simple decimal numbers; ability to file in alphabetical and numerical order; ability to operate computers, printers, copiers, and fax machines are required. Applicants must be physically able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. frequently; push / pull, kneel, and reach.
Selection Process :
