Summary of Position
This position will assist in the supervision of landscaping, greens and turf maintenance, including chemical applications, mowing, turf repair, and maintenance of the irrigation system. This individual will also support the ongoing maintenance of equipment and upkeep of building, sidewalks, trails, and paved and gravel surfaces on the golf course grounds.
Expected Hours of Work
Hours are typically Monday-Friday from 6 am to 2:30 pm. In addition to working typical hours, staff may be required to work additional events. Hours may include, nights, weekends, and holidays.

- Collaborate with staff to determine strategies for establishing and maintaining quality course conditions, including inspecting height to determine frequency of mowing and supplemental irrigation, as well as inspecting for disease and applying appropriate chemicals.
- Oversee maintenance of golf course irrigation pumps, motorized equipment, construction and general upkeep of building and grounds at Brookview Golf Course.
- Assist Golf Course Superintendent in hiring, training, and organizing workloads of part-time and seasonal staff.
- Coordinate special ground-care projects, including pest and weed control, trail grooming and snow removal.
- Act as Golf Course Superintendent when needed.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does have employee supervisory responsibilities. Individual will assist with supervision of seasonal staff members, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
Minimum and Desired Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Turf Grass Science and Management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three years of experience in golf turf maintenance/supervision.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Minnesota Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment. Knowledge of use and proper application of herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides. •
- Knowledge of practices, procedures, tools and materials used in golf operations and facilities maintenance and irrigation systems and equipment.
- Ability to complete the essential responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Turf Grass Science and Management

Work Environment and Physical Demands
Work is most often conducted outdoors, often under adverse and extreme weather conditions. Exposure to hazardous conditions, including operating power tools and equipment, and toxic materials, including raw sewage, garbage, landscaping chemicals, and hot asphalt. Employee is subject to noise while operating equipment and general noises in outdoor city environments.
