Under the direct supervision of the Lead Assistant Golf Professional, the Assistant Golf Professional – Full Time assists in the oversight of all aspects of the golf operations for Fossil Trace Golf Club, including the day-to-day responsibilities and procedures in managing daily play, tee times, events, golf course operation, and player development. Works closely with fellow golf employees by providing support, promoting the Club’s vision, and promoting the game of golf with an emphasis on providing industry-leading customer service.

The Assistant Golf Professional is directly responsible for areas of the operation including, but not limited to, maximizing daily golf course activities, operations, and efficiencies. Directly responsible for supportive tasks, providing answers, insights, instructions, and assistance for services via phone, email or in person. Responsible for supervising specific parts of the golf operation including but not limited to Seasonal and Part Time Golf Shop Attendants. May teach limited private and group lessons, as well as player development programs as available, maximum of 10 hours per week.This position is split between two incumbents and responsibilities will be assigned to support Player Development and Golf Operations segments.

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
  • Responsible for organizing activities for Women’s 9/18-hole leagues, Player Development Leagues and Junior Programming including but not limited to: Junior Camps, Operation 36 (Adult & Junior), PGA Junior League, PGA Family Golf, PGA Hope and Couples Golf.Responsible for instructing private, junior and group instruction, clinics, schools and clubfitting up to 20 hours per week.
  • In collaboration with the Lead Assistant Professional, manages the financial and operational performance of the Player Development Program including registrations, cancellations, and collection of fees.
  • In collaboration with Head Professional and Lead Assistant Professional, develop instructional programming at Fossil Trace. This includes private and group instruction, prepares class schedules and descriptions. Includes publication, staffing and coordination of classes/events.
  • Assists Head Golf Professional with implementation of the promotional plan, and creation of marketing content to include but not limited to: website development, printed material and signage, and email marketing campaigns.
  • Assists in the administration of leagues, tournaments, high school teams and club events. May assist with organizational activities for the Men’s and Ladies’ clubs, and Junior Golf Programs.
  • Provides input regarding number and type of instructional classes to be offered; assists with class schedules and descriptions and publication coordination of classes/events.
GOLF OPERATIONS
  • Responsible for daily cash reports and bank deposits at the end of each shift. Performs daily collection, deposit, and accounting procedures for golf course fees and charges in accordance with City policies and procedures.
  • Provides service and hospitality to golf course guests. Works with fellow Pro Shop employees in a team approach to daily operations; creates and fosters a high degree of customer service and professionalism in the workplace.
  • Ensure Golf Shop Staff is properly checking in all fees and other charges, facilitating accurate accounting and recordkeeping.
  • Responsible for building positive relationships by going above and beyond with guest service, ensuring all questions, cancellations and confirmations are handled professionally.
  • Assist with facility and building issues that may arise, including, but not limited to: cleanliness, connectivity, emergency and non-emergency situations, power, building security, water, etc.
  • Responsible for working behind the Golf Shop counter in the off-season (November 15 – March 1), including supporting open and close procedures. 
  • Assist Head Professional with the financial and operational performance of the golf shop operations and golf services.
  • Work closely with all departments to achieve the goals and objectives of the facility, including, but not limited to Assistant Professionals, Golf Shop Merchandise Coordinator and Restaurant General Manager.
  • Along with Head Professional, and Lead Assistant Professionals lead in the development of other Assistant Golf Professionals within the PGA’s Golf Management Program.
  • May provide custom club fitting.
  • Enforces golf course policies and procedures as well as policies and procedures of the City.
OTHER DUTIES
  • Daily opening and closing of the Pro Shop, collection of green fees, rental of carts and clubs, sale of range balls and Pro Shop merchandise. Responsible for maintaining the Golf Shop in a clean, orderly and fully stocked condition.
  • Assists as needed in the merchandising and display of Golf Shop merchandise. Assists with inventory control of Pro Shop and management of the Pro Shop counter.
  • Responsible for daily cash reports and bank deposits at the end of each shift. Performs daily collection, deposit, and accounting procedures for golf course fees and charges in accordance with City policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties and assignments as requested for the successful operation of the facility.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Will assist in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; coaching and mentoring; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Oversees daily business operations, including financial reports, point of sale (POS) training, sales tracking, troubleshooting, and programming (tee sheets, pricing, sales items, etc.). Responsible for learning all aspects of the POS system and automated tee time system (ClubProphet).
  • Leads and trains staff to offer exceptional customer service to all guests while also handling complaints and specific guest requests.
  • Attend applicable meetings, including management and staff meetings, when requested.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred. 
  • Must possess a background in golf operations, including player development (group, private and junior golf instruction). Minimum two years golf course experience with 1 years supervisory experience preferred. 
  • Must be PGA Member in good standing or currently enrolled and/or completed Level 3 of PGA Professional training program. 
  • Must be computer literate with working knowledge of MS Office, POS, Golf Genius preferred. 
  • Must possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 
Valid drivers’ license with good driving record.
PGA Member in good standing or Level 3 Associate Professional.
Current CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Must possess outstanding customer service skills and ability to deal with diverse populations. Ability to direct assigned personnel in necessary areas to maintain golf course and assist customers. Ability to speak effectively one-on-one or before groups of customers, employees, boards, etc. Ability to respond to customer concerns promptly and effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, the public and other agencies.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 
Ability to analyze and prepare budgets and financial information in accordance with city policies. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical business situations.

REASONING ABILITY 
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must possess excellent conflict resolutions skills. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.   Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Personal computers, general office equipment, golf merchandise, launch monitor, tablets, golf course equipment, and golf carts. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS  
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds, such as golf bags, golf clubs, range golf ball buckets, etc. May assist staff in setting up tables and chairs for special functions. Walking and standing approximately 6 – 8 hours a day may be required. Must be able to answer phone and hear and respond to telephone inquiries. Uses vision to read handwriting and computer data, greet customers, and perform general management duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
