What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletic Facility Specialist position at City of Golden?
Under the supervision of the Athletic Supervisor and Athletic Coordinator, the Athletic Facilities Specialist is responsible for pickleball program development, supervision, and maintenance of all City of Golden pickleball facilities. The Specialist will assist in overseeing the planning, marketing, supervising, budgeting, maintenance, and daily operations of pickleball facilities and programs. They will be responsible for administrative work as well as assisting in providing a variety of youth, adult, and community programs, providing supervision at program sites, and enforcing all policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. This position will also be responsible for generating revenue through programming of pickleball at the Tony Grampsas Gym and the other city owned pickleball facilities and other adult and youth-based community activities. The responsibilities of this position will be 50% pickleball programming and 50% facility supervision duties. The Athletic Facilities Specialist is also responsible for supervision and for general maintenance of the Tony Grampsas gym which includes basic floor maintenance and set up and take down for various activities.
This position must work a varied schedule, including nights and weekends. The schedule varies depending upon the season and the services offered. Flexibility and ability to work independently required. This position will work approximately 25 hours per week.
Supervises the Tony Grampsas Gym operations and all pickleball activities and programs, indoor and outdoor leagues, tournaments, lessons, and clinics.Minimum 18 years of age or older. Minimum High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 1-3 months related experience and/or training in programming and supervision of athletic and sports programming.
Background in pickleball and other adult and youth sports administration and programming. Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment necessary for facility/court maintenance activities. Experience with RecTrac and Quickscores or related software is a plus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, & decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

- Responsible for pickleball leagues, tournaments, ladders, and all activities and programs, including registrations, customer service, record keeping, and monitoring weather conditions for facility use.
- Provides supervision at program sites including league and tournament play.
- Conducts safety inspections as necessary to maintain a safe and user-friendly atmosphere for participants.
- Works closely with the public in educating on procedures and rental policies and assisting patrons with questions about scheduling and reservations.
- Responsible for administrative duties as required, including registration of all programs and events into RecTrac (City of Golden Parks and Recreation software application).
- Responds to public inquiries, provides information, and resolves complaints in an efficient, courteous, and timely manner.

- Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred or within six (6) months of hire date.
