The Recreation Assistant – Older Adults will deliver exceptional customer service to older adults by assisting in the planning and implementation of engaging recreational programs and special events. Work closely with the Recreation Supervisor to create a positive and welcoming environment at the Golden Community Center Front Porch. Part-time position, averaging 20 hours per week.
JOB SUMMARY
Assists Recreation Supervisor - Programs with the operation of the Front Porch program to ensure a safe and inviting atmosphere.
General administrative duties including but not limited to: answering phones, scheduling appointments, data entry, routine correspondence, program registrations, etc.
Assisting in the planning, organizing, and leading of a variety of recreational activities.
Setting up and breaking down equipment and facilities for recreational activities.
Interacting positively with participants of all ages and ensuring a friendly and inclusive environment.
Assist with SilverSneakers administration including information, registration, pass card renewal and explanation, monthly reports and filing.
Ensures a comfortable, safe and clean environment for patrons. Keeps the Front Porch well stocked and tidy. Reminds patrons of facility rules and policies as necessary. Maintains appropriate supply inventories and makes purchases to replenish as necessary.
Maintaining records and reports of participation, inventory, maintenance, and other pertinent information.
Makes initial contact and coordinate booking information for senior day trips, including, but not limited to, transportation, scheduling with the trip location, meal, hotel, (if included), etc. May be required to go on trip as GCC representative.
Monitors communications boards, pamphlet holders ensure current and accurate information is posted for city of Golden programs and resources as well as outside resources.
Assist with entering programs in RecTrac.
Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must have experience in dealing with the public and possess exceptional customer service skills. Working knowledge of basic computer and office administration skills required. Experience with adults 50 programming is preferred.

Valid driver’s license
Current CPR and first aid certifications or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to understand basic budget and accounting information.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
