General Statement of Duties/Distinguished Features of the Class
General Statement of Duties
Sports officials adjudicate sport specific rules and regulations and officiate game play. This part-time employee will report to the Athletics Supervisor.
Distinguishing Features of the Class
An employee in this class will officiate youth and adult sports games. The employee should be energetic and motivated. Work is performed under the direction of the Athletics Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Tasks
- Knowledge of the game officiating.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of the methods and skills required to officiate sports games.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, superiors and the general public.
- Experience of dealing with customers.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Inspire confidence.
- Ability to respond courteously to citizens.
- Ability to be flexible and in good physical condition.
- Performs related duties as required.
Physical Requirements/Special Requirements
Physical Requirements
Work requires stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, running, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is required for determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work. May be subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in officiating sports games.
Special Requirements:
- Must possess valid NC driver’s license.
- First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
