Job Description:
The City of Goodwater is seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to serve as its Chief of Police. This key leadership position demands a strong commitment to community safety, effective law enforcement, and collaborative public service. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all police department operations, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and fostering a positive relationship between the police force and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Goodwater Police Department, including personnel, budget, and resources.
- Develop and implement department policies, procedures, and strategies to ensure effective law enforcement.
- Maintain a high level of community engagement and foster positive relationships with residents, businesses, and organizations.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Oversee training and professional development programs for police officers and staff.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents, providing leadership and direction as required.
- Prepare and present reports to city officials and the public.
Requirements:
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Preferred minimum of 10 years of law enforcement experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of law enforcement principles, practices, and procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community groups and stakeholders.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Completion of advanced law enforcement training programs (e.g., FBI National Academy) is preferred.
