Job Description Summary
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled and motivated Infrastructure Engineer with a deep understanding of enterprise-level IT infrastructure, exceptional troubleshooting abilities, and a proactive mindset. The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing and optimizing complex environments, with a focus on performance, security, and scalability. The Ideal candidate will have experience with administration and support of critical systems, including the management of virtual infrastructure, Microsoft Entra, Office 365, endpoint management systems, DNS services, as well as backup and unified communications solutions. The ideal candidate’s expertise in these areas will ensure seamless operation, high availability, and the continuous improvement of our IT services.

Essential Functions
This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following functions do not identify all duties performed by the incumbent. Other duties and responsibilities will be performed as assigned.
- Assists the Senior Infrastructure Engineer and Management to devise strategic and tactical solutions required to meet overall business objectives. Recommends technology solutions considering a number of factors including budget, business need, internal capabilities, usability, longevity, integration, and strategic direction.
- Provides consulting, instruction, direction and technical assistance to other departments and divisions as required for architectural design of core management systems as well as application platforms, security, and storage and/or backup related objectives. Interfaces with users, consultants, technical teams and vendors for maximum guidance in determining the most appropriate selection of technologies.
- Provides administration, analysis, design, testing, documentation, implementation and functions for (but not limited to) all server systems (virtual, physical, on-premise or cloud), mass storage systems; backup systems, networks, telephony systems, enterprise applications including e-mail systems, monitoring systems, telephony systems, directory services, DNS, DHCP, RADIUS, VPN, data center and security systems.
- Creates and maintains comprehensive diagrams and supporting documentation for all areas of responsibility including, but not limited to, network configuration(s), physical and logical data flow, application to hardware dependencies, hardware and software standards, disaster recovery preparedness, and operational governance including standard operating procedures or guidelines.
- Identifies improvement opportunities. Examples include but are not limited to tools, processes, procedures, installation, configuration and troubleshooting techniques. Develops documentation, checklists and auditing tools, and processes for communicating appropriate support information to others as necessary. Provides training as appropriate.
- Works independently as assigned and consults with peers and management team before deciding on final solutions.
- Adheres to and participates in established governance parameters such as change management procedures and schedules including identifying and communicating with stakeholders prior to implementation.
- Manages crisis and incidents and provides on-call support during non-business hours daily and/or as needed.
- Serves as the project manager for assigned projects and ensures their successful completion according to budget, schedule, and quality deliverables.
- Mentors and provides technical assistance as needed to help less experienced staff within the department.
- Provides customer service and technical support as needed.
Requirements
- Formal Education/Knowledge: Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two year associate's degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.
- Experience: Minimum of four years of experience in a related field.
- Certifications and Other Requirements: Valid Driver's License. Ability to meet the criminal background regulations mandated by the FBI CJIS Security Policy. Must possess two certifications from the following organizations (or similar): Microsoft; Cisco; VMware; Comp TIA; Commvault; ISC2; GIAC; etc.
- Reading: Work requires the ability to read technical instructions, technical specifications, trade magazines, responses to RFPs/RFQs, planning documents, policies/procedures, and documents generated by staff at a high level of comprehension.
- Math: Work requires the ability to perform math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and algebra that require calculations and formulas.
- Writing: Work requires the ability to write interoffice memos, creation of process and procedural documentation, user manuals, staff presentations, issue papers, planning documents, and requests for proposals at a high level. Many assignments require translation of technical terms.
- Managerial: Semi-Complex - Work requires the occasional direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees.
- Policy/Decision Making: Moderate – The employee normally performs the job by following established standard operating procedures and/or policies. There is a choice of the appropriate procedure or policy to apply to duties. More complex work as well as decisions with more significant impacts are typically reviewed prior to being finalized.
- Technical Skills: Comprehensive Application - Work requires advanced skills and knowledge in approaches and systems, which affect the design and implementation of major programs, solutions for highly complex issues, and/or processes organization-wide. Independent judgment and decision-making abilities are necessary to apply technical skills effectively.
- Interpersonal/Human Relations Skills: High - In addition to the sharing of information, interactions at this level may also include providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies/procedures. In many of the interactions, contacts may require the consideration of different points of view to reach agreement. Objective: Orientation & Relationship Building
- Familiarize with the organization's current Infrastructure operations, technologies, and team structure. Meet with stakeholders to understand their needs and manage expectations.
- Review current Infrastructure standards and practices against industry best practices. Identify gaps and opportunities for alignment.
Objective: Embrace Goodyear Core Values and disseminate to division

Within 60 days:
Objective: Infrastructure Assessment & Improvement Plan
- Conduct a preliminary health check of critical systems (servers, storage, cloud infrastructure). Identify at least three areas for optimization or risk mitigation, and draft a roadmap for improvement in collaboration with the team.
Objective: Access & Monitoring Setup
- Ensure proper access to all relevant systems, tools, and monitoring dashboards. Enhance personal monitoring views and alerting mechanisms to stay informed about infrastructure health and performance
Within 12 Months:
Objective: Infrastructure Modernization Project Delivery
- Lead the implementation of a key infrastructure modernization initiative, such as migrating legacy systems to the cloud or working with our Senior Network Engineer to implement a hybrid network solution.
- Assess and enhance the organization’s disaster recovery and high-availability infrastructure. Successfully test an updated DR plan and reduce recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs) by a measurable percentage.
