The City of Goodyear is seeking highly motivated individuals to work as lifeguards at the Goodyear Aquatic Center and Loma Linda Pool. This is a part-time position with up to 40 hours per week during the months of May - August and up to 20 hours per week during the months of September - April.
Lifeguards support the daily operations of the Goodyear Aquatic Center and Loma Linda Pool. Their primary responsibilities include ensuring the safety of all patrons, enforcing facility rules, educating visitors, providing first aid, responding to emergencies, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. Lifeguards are expected to deliver exceptional customer service, demonstrate a positive attitude, and meet the needs of patrons. Additionally, they assist in mentoring and training volunteer Junior Lifeguards.
To prioritize patron safety and ensure staff are prepared to respond effectively during emergencies, all aquatics staff are required to attend ongoing in-service trainings.

Examination Process
Applicants are required to attend pre-class orientation on February 28th where they will complete the swim tests (listed above). Applicants must be registered for one of the lifeguard certification courses offered below (all classes held at Goodyear Aquatics Center):

- Be at least 15 years old at the start of the lifeguard certification class.
- Have a valid lifeguard and CPR certification (StarGuard Elite lifeguard certification is required)
- Upload all lifeguard certifications to the application
- Swim 50 yards continuous with head up
- Swim 50 yards continuous with a rescue tube across the chest
- Tread water for 1 minute without use of hands
- Retrieve a 10 lb. brick at a depth of 12 feet
- Attend the pre-class orientation on February 28th from 5:00 – 8:00pm.
- Attend the mandatory new employee orientation April 15th & 16th from 4:00 – 7:00pm (at Goodyear Recreation Center).
