What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Soccer Volunteer Coach position at City of Goodyear?
BRIEF COACH DESCRIPTION:
Help us serve the youth and make a difference in your community! Volunteers are an essential part of youth sports and we need your help to make our programs a success. Whether you have a child on the team or not, you are welcome to apply to become a volunteer in our youth sports programs.
The soccer season begins the week of March 10, 2025. The expected time commitment is approximately 3-4 hours per week. Practices are held 1-2 nights a week and games on Saturdays beginning March 15. This recreational league places an emphasis on equal playing time, sportsmanship, and having fun.
COACHING BENEFITS:
- Head coaches will receive a credit (resident rate) after successful completion of season.
- Reserved outdoor practice field space at Goodyear Recreation Campus or Foothills Community Park.
- Opportunity to request up to 5 players on your team plus your own child.
- Access to MOJO Coach training app for practice plans and drill videos.
- Head coach will receive coach shirt, practice balls, and cones.
- Receive volunteer hours
COACHING EXPECTATIONS:
- Coaches are expected to attend an in-person coaches meeting and are responsible for contacting their teams after the meeting.
- Coaching Soccer requires basic knowledge of the game, rules and the ability to demonstrate and communicate proper skills and drills.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with players, parents, and staff.
- Ability to work with no supervision, attend all practices and games.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and implement meaningful and instructive practice plans.
- Emphasize teamwork, equal participation, and good sportsmanship.
- Communicate effectively with league administrators as well as team parents.
COACHING REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicant must be 18 years of age
- Submission of online background check.
