What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jr. Gymnastic Coach position at City of Goose Creek?
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Executes planned activities to include age appropriate, skill appropriate and level appropriate gymnastics techniques.
- Assists Gymnastics Coordinator in planning program activities.
- Assists with recreation classes, programs and events.
- Participates in structured activities with the children.
- Observes and assists participants in acquiring new skills.
- Reports accidents and injuries in accordance with City of Goose Creek policies.
- Prepares facility for daily activities and cleans up facility at end of the day.
- Checks equipment for safety and reports any safety issues to supervisor immediately.
- Ensures child is released to the correct parent/guardian.
- Maintains a safe environment for the children.
- Keeps daily attendance records and progress reports.
- Attends staff meetings and training sessions.
- Assists Gymnastic Coordinator will various assignments and responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One (1) year of experience in teaching and structuring gymnastics classes is preferred.
- CPR and First Aid Certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Must obtain USAG Safety Certification within 60 days.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to provide customer service to include problem solving and dispute resolution when necessary.
- Ability to lift and move gymnastics equipment and to spot children while doing gymnastics.
- Ability to provide basic first aid.
- Ability to monitor planned activities with children.
- Ability to perform CPR.
- Ability to work under pressure, in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to supervise and relate well to children.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work requires exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally to move equipment, and up to 15 pounds of force frequently to move objects and the following physical abilities: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed indoors with some outdoor work.
