Hiring Range: $26.37 - $29.67 HOURLY

About the Position:
Are you passionate about protecting animals and ensuring public safety? Join our team as an Animal Control Officer and make a difference in your community! In this role, you will enforce state, county, and city animal control regulations, respond to violations, issue citations, and testify in court when necessary. You'll capture stray or dangerous animals, remove deceased ones from public and private properties, and educate the public about responsible pet ownership and animal control laws. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with other agencies to address animal-related concerns and help create a safe environment for all.

Duties
What You'll Do:
- Enforce state, county, and City animal control laws.
- Investigate animal control violations, cruelty, neglect, abandonment, and animal attacks.
- Patrol assigned areas to locate, capture, and impound stray, dangerous, or unlicensed animals.
- Respond to emergency calls involving injured, aggressive, or rabid animals.
- Assess the health and condition of animals encountered in the field.
- Engage with the community through public speaking, school programs, and public events to promote responsible pet ownership.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement, shelters, veterinarians, and other agencies to manage animal-related incidents and ensure proper handling of cases.
- Maintain accurate records of investigations, impoundments, and enforcement activities.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Qualifications
This position is a safety sensitive position, which means you will be subject to random drug screens due to the nature of the work performed.
What We're Looking For:
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in animal services, law enforcement or related field.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, Colorado Association of Animal Control Officers certification within 1 year of employment.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, National Animal Control Association certification within 1 year of employment.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, First Aid and CPR certification within 1 year of employment.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
