Hiring Range: $20.00 - $25.55 hourly

About the Position:
The Downtown Grand Junction Business Improvement District is searching for an Event Coordinator to join our team! In this position, you will coordinate, produce and manage various aspects of special events sponsored by Downtown Grand Junction and assists with permitting for all events that happen within Downtown. Coursework or training in event management, marketing, communications, or business administration can provide valuable knowledge and skills that contribute to success in this role. Education in these areas can help with budgeting, vendor coordination, public relations, and strategic planning for large-scale events. About the Downtown Grand Junction Business Improvement District:

The Downtown Partnership consists of two special districts, the Downtown Development Authority and the Business Improvement District which share the same staff and Board of Directors. The Business Improvement District is responsible for producing our signature Downtown events and marketing the Downtown area.

Duties

What You'll Do:

  • Plan, coordinate, produce, and manage Downtown sponsored Special Events including but not limited to music festivals, farmer's markets, Downtown Car Show, Downtown Art Show, holiday events, and parades.
  • Coordinate and manage all logistics of event production and execution, including timely securing of all necessary permits, processing vendor applications, supervising and directing seasonal and permanent part-time event staff responsible for event implementation.
  • Prepare, manage and track budgets for each special event.
  • Serve as Downtown Liaison for Special Event Task Force, Downtown Ambassador Program, and other committees/organizations as needed.
  • Provide input, assistance, and oversight to third-party producers of events held in Downtown.
  • Solicit and coordinate the participation of Downtown businesses in planning and executing Downtown events, including staffing both standing and ad hoc event committees.
  • Research special events in other communities, and collect organizational best practices and municipal policies/regulation of events; develop recommendations for improving Downtown events and/or City of Grand Junction event policies in coordination with Downtown and City staff.
  • Attend and participate in regional meetings and conferences concerning Downtowns and their special event programming and production.
  • Assist with Downtown marketing, especially pertaining to Special Events.
  • Assist with securing sponsorships for Downtown events.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For:


  • Two years' increasingly responsible experience in special event management and production.
  • Two years' volunteer coordination experience.
  • Website management.
  • Contract management.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver's license.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
