About the Role:
The City of Grand Junction Public Safety Volunteer Program is intended to supplement and support the staff of the Police and Fire Departments while they safeguard our community and enhance its quality of life. Public Safety Volunteers assist first responders in numerous ways. From supporting office staff, assisting with educational programs, working in the field and hosting community events – volunteers are an integral part of the work we do each day.
Exciting fieldwork may include the Neighborhood Speed Watch Program, Fire Safety Classes, Building Tours, Fleet Transport, Compression only CPR demonstrations, Community Patrol, as well as many others. There are office opportunities in Records, Investigations, Crime Lab, and throughout our administrative offices in both departments.
Volunteering is a perfect way to give back to your community, learn new skills, and be a part of the close-knit group of first responders. We have opportunities for adults of various ages and abilities. Whether you are able to give a few hours a month or several hours each week – we are honored to have you join our team.

What We're Looking For:
Both the Fire and Police Departments have established personnel standards, which are higher than encountered in most employment situations. This is also true in volunteer positions.
The higher standards are necessary because of the nature of the work and legal obligations of the Police and Fire Departments. Therefore, we do require a high level of personal information in our application process.
