The Grand Prairie Fire Department operates on a 48-96 schedule and is currently in the process of finishing the implementation of four-person engine companies.
Essential Job Functions
DD-214
If you have military experience, submit a copy of your DD-214 before the test. The DD-214 must specifically declare the character of service being "honorable" or an honorable discharge certificate signed by the President of the United States. Only those who pass the writtenexam (scoring 70% or above) will receive an additional five (5) points to their raw score.
Required by the time of hire :
- Copy of Birth Certificate
- Copy of High School Diploma or GED
- Copy of Texas Paramedic License / Certificate OR National Registry Paramedic License / Certificate
Note : Obtaining a paramedic license takes about one year. If you do not have it when your name is reached, you will be skipped. However, you may still be considered if you obtain the certification while the list remains active and vacancies exist.
