What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time Cemetery and Mausoleum Manager position at City of Grand Prairie?
• Perform the full range of management functions including hiring, training, assigning and monitoring work, coaching, disciplining, and evaluating staff engaged in the Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum.
• Oversee daily operations by planning, organizing, and managing operations and staff.
• Monitors plans and policies by developing, implementing, and monitoring plans, policies and procedures related to the operation of the division.
• Meet with funeral directors and families in scheduling funerals, opening of graves, and making other funeral arrangements.
• Develop and implement advertising, marketing, and promotional strategies for the facility.
• Communicate courteously and effectively with customers during the process of providing products and services.
• Manage contracts for outsourced services including lawn/irrigation maintenance, burial services, memorial installations, engravinG services, and automated physical and fiscal record keeping.
• Monitor the budget by monitoring expenses; researching and implementing cost saving measures; and oversees cemetery revenues and expenses.
• Initiate and maintain effective relationships with the community, civic groups, corporate groups, funeral directors, and others.
• Assists in the preparation of operating budget requests and Capital Improvement Projects.
• Formulate, develop, and implement short-range and long-range plans to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of cemetery operations.
• Ability to communicate well with customers, co-workers and executive staff.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Regular and consistent attendance punctuality.
• All other duties as assigned.
Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may qualify. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or related field
• Experience: Two (2) years of management in a related field and a minimum of five (5) years’ direct experience in this field.
• Licenses: Valid Texas class C Driver's License required
