Nature of Work The purpose of this job is to utilize Best Practices and Standards, as identified by the Michigan State Court Administrative Office and/or the National Association of Drug Court Professionals, to reduce recidivism associated with addiction, reduce local incarceration rates, and offer PSC participants individualized support and guidance as they navigate the path of sobriety is to ensure the successful implementation of the Office of Community Corrections (OCC) grant by reviewing applications, conducting participant interviews, and coordinating with various stakeholders. Work involves developing and adjusting individualized treatment plans, facilitating team meetings, and providing progress updates. Collaborates with judges, attorneys, community service providers, and contributes to interdisciplinary planning sessions. Monitoring participant compliance, making recommendations to judges, and maintaining accurate records. Essential Duties & Responsibilities The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Flexibility to adjust work week hours to provide services.Plans, organizes, coordinates, and monitors the activities of the Problem-Solving Court program.Serves as a link between each of the members of the Problem-Solving Court Team and participant.Schedules and meets with participants to discuss program details.Attends pre-hearing staffing and hearings to evaluate and direct Problem-Solving Court operations, case management, and Problem-Solving Court team cohesiveness and understanding of Problem-Solving Court concepts.Adheres to program policies and protocols, as well as to 42 C.F.R. Part 2, HIPAA, and other state and local confidentiality laws.Attends case staffing and court hearings to report participant compliance/noncompliance and recommend incentives and sanctionsCollaborates with government and community agencies in order to meet programmatic goals, funding requirements, and provide effective programming and ancillary services. COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE Knowledge of: English grammar, spelling, punctuationConsiderable knowledge of court procedures and policies, legal documents, laws, and other information pertaining to the court or court procedure.Computer uses and applicationsModern office practices and procedures and skill in the operation of standard office equipment. Good working knowledge of word processing and data entry computer software. Skill in: Skills to establish rapport with offenders to gain their confidence and cooperation and to engage offenders who may respond negatively to outreach efforts.Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other court and city employees as well as various organizations and the public.Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different naturePerforming basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios Ability to: Meet schedules and deadlines of the workMaintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundariesEstablish rapport with offenders to gain their confidence and cooperation and to engage offenders who may respond negatively to outreach efforts.Work independently on case assignments and understand the problems faced by families from all cultural backgrounds and economic levels.Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively in both mediums.Work under stressful working conditions and sustain a high paced work environment.Make decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, rules, and departmental policies and procedures and exercise independent judgment.Delegate tasks, evaluate job knowledge and performance and provide direction/supervision to subordinate clerical positions. This position description does not constitute an employment agreement between the 61st District Court and the employee and is subject to change by the Court as the needs of the Court and requirements of the position change.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice,behavioral sciences, corrections, psychology, social work, rehabilitation counseling, or guidance counseling. - ORBachelor’s degree and at least three (3) years of paid full-time experience working in substance or alcohol abuse or the mental health field. Experience: Two years of experience in working with community service agencies or volunteer services; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. The qualifications listed above are guidelines for selection purposes; alternative qualifications may be substituted if sufficient to perform the duties of the job. Required Licenses or CertificationsMust obtain the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals Certified Criminal Justice Professional (CCJP) within one (1) year of hire.
