What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Librarian - Outreach/Youth - PT (19 hours or less/week) position at City of Grapevine?
Assists in providing quality outreach and youth programs and services to library patrons.
1. Assists in the planning, preparing, and presenting of outreach and youth programs based on their developmental levels. May include public storytimes, outreach sites and daycares.
2. Arranges library displays, makes signage including posters, flyers, and other publicity materials, and creates storytime visuals.
3. Develops familiarity with children's literature in order to recommend titles for patrons.
4. Provides knowledge of programs in order to answer patron questions, provides patrons with general or directional assistance.
5. Develops computer skills as necessary including library catalog, word processing, and spreadsheet programs. Will instruct patrons in library computer use.
6. Organizes supplies, prepares orders for new books, and maintains statistics for monthly reports.
7. Answers questions from the public by telephone, email, or in-person.
8. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
9. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
10. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.

Bachelor's degree is required. Prefer degree in education, child development, or library science with a good knowledge of children's literature.
Must have previous experience working with children and ability in storytelling, puppetry, theater or music. Library experience is preferred.
Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and credit check. Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
