What are the responsibilities and job description for the CVB Historical Interpreter - PT (19 hours or less per week) position at City of Grapevine?
Historical Interpreters will conduct and present daily tours and programs, and facilitate activities to school groups, general public and visitors of Grapevine historic attractions, Nash Farm, Convention and Visitor's Bureau (CVB) galleries and Settlement to City museums.
1. Conducts pre-developed historic education activities and programs and tours that include living history and heritage skills for adults, students and families.
2. Assists with historic site / museum daily operations to include opening and closing of historic sites, gift shop operation, customer service.
3. Assists historic programs staff with setting up and preparing for historical education programs, classes and tours.
4. Prepares workspace before and after each day for education activities.
5. Ensures facility is secure and maintained before, during and following events, when applicable.
6. Prepares materials for educations programs and keep an inventory of items required for activities.
7. Exhibits positive customer service and hospitality toward all visitors daily.
8. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
9. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
10. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
• Ability to work well with people.
• Ability to do considerable walking, standing, sitting, and bending.
• Ability to lift or carry equipment or material up to 35 pounds.
• Ability to perform a variety of physical duties including but not limited to moving tables and chairs, mopping and cleaning, climbing ladders, gardening using hand tools and implements, working in hot and cold outdoor conditions while wearing 19th century period appropriate clothing.
• Ability to work irregular hours and schedules as needed for special events and programs.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Minimum age 15 years old.
Requires effective verbal communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public and possess an outstanding customer service attitude.
Volunteer experience at historic sites, museums, or education programs preferred.
Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and credit check.
Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, and functional assessment screening (Level 2).

Safety equipment such as gloves, goggles, hard hats, safety vests, steel-toe boots, back support belts, and seat belts are provided and must be worn as required by department procedures and good safety practices.
