Job Summary:
The City of Greeley is dedicated to fostering a vibrant, inclusive community. We are seeking a passionate and dynamic individual to join our team as a Community Outreach and Engagement Specialist. The ideal candidate will build strong and long-lasting relationships with the community we serve and work closely with community members, organizations, and leaders to support the City's mission and goals. This role will be a key contributor to the team and the city, working collaboratively with other departments to organize and execute events and promote civic engagement.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as sociology, communications, public relations, marketing, education, or organizational development.
- Five (5) years of experience in community outreach, relationship building, event planning and execution, and public speaking.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred
- Six to Eight (6-8) years of related experience.
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
- Five (5) years of professional or lived experience working with diverse communities, including underrepresented and marginalized groups.
- Five (5) years of Event Management experience.

- Efficiently organizes community events from ideation to execution.
- Develop and communicate messaging for community and internal presentations.
- Collaborate with communications team to identify goals and target audience, creating strategic content for multi-purposed use and distribution.
- Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design principles.
- Knowledge of community resources, issues, and trends.
- Knowledge of the business and organizational structure of Colorado municipalities.
- Collaboration skills, including the ability to work with others from different areas and backgrounds to reach a common goal.
- Computer skills, including the ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and learn and experiment with new software and systems.

Essential Functions:
Outreach
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage and build relationships with diverse communities, including community organizations, schools, businesses, faith-based groups, neighborhood associations, and government agencies.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders and community leaders to promote the City's initiatives, events, and activities.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of community contacts, partners, and resources.
- Monitor and analyze community feedback and insights to improve outreach and training efforts and inform organizational decision-making.
- Act as a liaison between the City of Greeley and the community, serving as a representative at community events, meetings, panels and forums.
- Prepare and distribute outreach and engagement materials, including flyers, brochures, and newsletters.
Engagement
- Plan, coordinate, and lead community events, workshops, and presentations that align with the City’s mission and goals such as Council in the Community and City Leaders in the Community among others.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment of outreach and engagement strategies with organizational objectives.
- Develop and establish best practices for the City on outreach and engagement, serving as an outreach resource and community expert for the city.
- Provide budgetary and resource recommendations for successful community initiatives.
- Collaborate with the communications and marketing team to create messaging and promote training opportunities through various communication channels.
- Maintain knowledge of emerging trends and best practices in community outreach and engagement to continuously improve productivity.
