Job Summary
The City of Greeley is seeking two Engineering Technicians I – III to join the Construction Management/ Engineering team of the Public Works Department. The Engineering Technician will report to the Civil Engineer IV and will play a vital role in developing and maintaining the City’s infrastructure projects. The position will consist of technically skilled engineering work including planning, design, review, project construction management/engineering, and budget monitoring of street infrastructure, construction and/or reconstruction programs, and pavement/concrete maintenance projects for the City’s Public Works programs. Amount of time spent in the office vs. in the field will depend on department needs and the technician’s skill set at time of hire.

Travel: Some travel is required to other facilities or work sites in the field; during peak season between June to November this could be up to 60%. During off peak season, travel would be minimal, approximately 20% of the time.

Minimum Requirements
All Levels And Level I
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current and valid driver’s license.
- General understanding of civil engineering, utility infrastructure, and system rehabilitation.
- Working knowledge of converting units of measurements for asphalt and concrete usage.
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering, computer aided drafting, construction technology, surveying, or a certification program of comparable length in a closely related field,
- Advanced vocational skills strengthened by at least two (2) years of on-the-job experience in a closely related field or working as an Engineering Technician or for another municipality.
- In addition to the above requirements, Level II requires an Associate’s degree in civil engineering, computer aided drafting, construction technology, surveying, or related field plus three (3) years of experience as an Engineering Technician or for another municipality,
- Advanced vocational skills strengthened by at least five (5) years of experience as an Engineering Technician.
- Level III requires all the duties and responsibilities identified in Level I & Level II, plus an Associate’s degree in civil engineering, computer aided drafting, construction technology, surveying, or related field, plus seven (7) years of experience as an Engineering Technician.
- Advanced vocational skills strengthened by at least nine (9) years of experience as an Engineering Technician.
- A combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job may be considered by the hiring authority.
- Previous Survey Technician experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of drones and photogrammetry preferred.
- A minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of Experience using GIS, CAD, and CityWorks preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of engineering instruments such as calculators, rulers and engineering rulers, technical measuring scales, and survey equipment, including electronic field books, tablets, and smartphones preferred.
- Knowledge of the business and organizational structure of Colorado municipalities.
- Collaboration skills, including the ability to work with others from different areas and backgrounds to reach a common goal.
- Computer skills, including the ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), and the ability to learn and experiment with new software and systems.
- Interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate interaction, communication, and teamwork between others.

- Working in or near moving traffic with appropriate traffic control set up.
