Job Summary :
Reporting directly to the Recreation Facility Manager, the Facility Maintenance Supervisor is an integral part of the Recreation Division within the City of Greeley Culture, Parks, and Recreation Department. Working collaboratively with various CPRD divisions, the Facility Maintenance Supervisor will contribute to the overall quality of life for residents and visitors of the Greeley community. Recreation Facility Supervisor actively participates in facility maintenance initiatives, capital planning, asset management and budget development / monitoring. The Facility Maintenance Supervisor will have oversight within various CPRD Facilities. The Facility Maintenance Supervisor will oversee Facility Crew Leaders, Facility Service Workers, and 10-15 part-time employees and volunteers. The Facility Maintenance Supervisor provides leadership and direction for employees and assists the Manager in research and implementation of new innovative ideas to improve the operations and facilities.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills :
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Facility Management, Recreation Management, Business Administration, or a related field, OR an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and / or experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in facility management, recreation operations, or a related field.
- Supervisory experience, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff.
- Experience with maintenance operations, custodial services, and facility upkeep.
- Knowledge of budgeting, purchasing, and inventory management.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel between city facilities.
Preferred
Five (5) or more years of experience in facility operations within parks and recreation, municipal government, or a similar industry.Certification(s) in facility management, project management, or custodial operations (e.g., Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP), or similar).Experience using facility management software such as CityWorks or Connect2Concepts.Familiarity with ADA compliance and safety regulations for public facilities.Knowledge of asset management and preventative maintenance planning.Proficiency in developing and implementing staff training programs.Bilingual (Spanish / English) written and verbal skills.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with complicated practices and precedents.Requires a basic understanding and application of theoretical or scientific principles, acquired through college education or advanced vocational skills strengthened by years of on-the- job experience.Supervisory experience in a fast-paced environment with strong communication and team building skills.Extensive knowledge of general and preventative maintenance, cleaning and repair in multiple construction trades as well as fitness equipment.Microsoft 365, Recreation software (Amilia), Cost Recovery Software, Connect 2 Concepts, When 2 Work, Oracle, Sign-up Genius, Word Press Editing, Survey Monkey. General knowledge of cleaning and maintenance machines.Essential Functions :
Personnel Management
Hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates a team of 10 full-time staff including Facility Crew Leaders, Facility Service Workers as well as several part-time employees including community service workers and Summer Teen Employment Program employees.Oversees training for staff on topics such as equipment usage, personal and public safety, facility and equipment records, and cleaning procedures.Prioritizes and assigns work orders to Crew Leaders to ensure all buildings are cleaned properly and coordinate maintenance with the Recreation Facility Manager.Provides Crew Leaders with weekly event schedules and coordinate logistics for each individual event.Prepares and performs regularly scheduled staff meetings and trainings including meeting with Recreation Supervisors from each building.Conducts evaluations / appraisals annually and following probationary periods.Facility Management
Collaborates and communicates with Manager, Public Works and cleaning contractors to ensure needs are being met, contractual obligations are fulfilled and that the buildings are cleaned and ready for business.Develops plans for maintaining equipment at all facilities including cleaning machines, batteries, fitness equipment, lifts, gator, and tools.Works alongside the Recreation Facility Manager to create service level agreements that outline work to be completed internally as well as work provided by the Public Works Department.Ensures staff are winterizing, completing general seasonal maintenance, and post winter opening of pools and splash pads as well as the Family Funplex outdoor pond and waterfall.Plans upgrades, floor finishing, painting, repairs for building closures and maintenance week at corresponding times for each building.Oversees city vehicles and ensures they are clean, and checklists are completed while working with the fleet department to schedule service and preventative maintenance.Conducts regular building inspections to ensure facilities are meeting city, department, and ADA standards.Coordinates snow removal around Recreation facilities including pre-facility opening snow removal.Project Management
Oversees small projects on remodels / upgrades including carpet installs, various tile / concrete / epoxy flooring, electrical and lighting, door / hardware, and utility / plumbing repair.Conducts monthly building inspections with the Recreation Facility Manager.Develops Gantt charts to assist in the productivity of work being completed.Assists with the prioritizing, scheduling, and timing of facility and capital improvement projects.Assists with creating scopes of work, bid awards, and closing processes.Assists with planning, logistics, and communication for projects with all involved parties including building supervisors and contractors.Technology / Assessment
Administers building surveys by working with Facility Supervisors to gauge cleanliness and customer satisfaction.Trains staff and utilizes Connect2Concepts for record keeping and work order system for all of Recreation.Develops and keeps records of preventative maintenance plans, useful life, and replacement schedules for rolling stock and capital inventory at all recreation facilities.Utilizes City Works software and assists with asset management for the department.Evaluates and researches other technology or assessment tools for the department.Fiscal Management
Work with staff to purchase and inventory all maintenance and cleaning supplies for each facility and track expenditures to ensure budgets are met.Maintains the operating budgets for facilities related to equipment maintenance as well as the purchasing of custodial and maintenance supplies.Works closely with the Recreation Facility Manager and Purchasing Department on project bids and vendor contracts.Oversees payroll expenses for full-time and part-time employees.Development of reports and performance measures in support of the department and division financial goals.Communication :
Collaborating with CPRD Managers and Supervisors to strategically prioritize maintenance and custodial work between several buildings with several employees.Communication will occur daily with vendors, contractors, direct reports, and various City of Greeley employees.Problem-solving and decision-making.Other Duties : This position description indicates the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
