Job Summary:
The City of Greeley is looking for an enthusiastic Farmer's Market Assistant to provide on-site coordination. The Farmers Market Assistant will report to the Special Events Coordinator. By facilitating this community resource, we strive to strengthen relationships between local food producers and food consumers by educating, nourishing, and making local food.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
Minimum Requirements
- Basic math skills to be able to calculate sales taxes and add/subtract figures on paperwork.
Preferred
- Cash handling experience.
- Customer service experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to assure security of market assets.
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with vendors and customers and resolve problems in a professional manner.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies.
- Ability to organize and maintain site in a safe, effective and attractive manner.
- Ability to work with volunteers to enhance market operations.
Essential Functions
- Completes EBT/EFT transactions using wireless POS device and accounting for market coupons.
- Organizes vendor parking and set-up.
- Monitors vendor product and activities to ensure adherence to Market policies.
- Distributes and collects sales reporting envelopes with required fees and sales taxes for each vendor.
- Prepares and submits reports and collected funds to supervisor and/or Finance Department providing information to vendors and customers during Market sessions.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Work Environment
- Approximately 95% of the work is performed outdoors at the Farmers’ Market site in a variety of weather conditions from high temperatures in full sun to cool or cold conditions with rain or snow.
- Most work is performed in daylight hours but at certain times of the season may begin in pre-dawn conditions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk and stand for several hours on hard surface.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds unassisted.
