What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laborer - Water & Sewer - Non-potable - Seasonal position at City of Greeley -?
Salary Range: $18.40 - $23.00 Hourly
Job Summary:
The Laborer in the non-potable water division obtains daily readings from various stations, daily inspections and assists system operators with preventive maintenance. Additional duties may include performing work on pumps, valves, sprinklers, mowing grass, maintaining pump station sites and other related job duties.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
- Current driver's license with good driving record;
- Ability to read and understand work instructions;
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations;
- Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment, lawn mowing and sprinklers preferred;
- Previous pump maintenance experience preferred;
- Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus but not required.
Essential Functions:
- Measure distance using a tape measure or calibrated instruments;
- Make precise arm-hand position movements and maintain static balance (i.e.: using wrenches, a hammer, saw or similar tools);
- Make repetitive arm-hand movements;
- Work with small objects (placing washers on bolts);
- Bend and stoop repeatedly or continually over long periods of time. Work in small and/or cramped areas;
- Climb a ladder or steps to reach jobs;
- Operate machinery such as a riding lawn mower, a tractor, or mower;
- Move debris, dirt, and other material from one location to another using a shovel, rake, or other hand tools;
- Move heavy objects (50 lbs. or more) a long distance (20 feet or more). Learn job-related skills through oral or written instruction;
- Read information in English on a computer screen;
- Interpret information on a computer screen and follow sequence of repair information. Remain standing for long periods of time;
- Follow established safety practices and procedures. Perform "on call" duties;
- Be able to work weekends if needed.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Exposure to all weather conditions;
- Exposure to various types of machinery noise, some levels to excess. Exposure to untreated water.
- Manual labor, prolonged standing, kneeling, bending and walking, climbing ladders and stairs;
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis;
- Manual dexterity enough to operate hand and power tools, move objects.
- Vision enough to perform above functions, read printed instructions.
