Job Summary:
The Visitor Services Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service, handling admissions, and supporting retail store sales at the City of Greeley Museums. This role ensures a welcoming environment for all visitors, assists with museum store operations, and facilitates ticketing and membership sales. The ideal candidate is friendly, detail-oriented, and passionate about history and community engagement.
This is a variable hourly position up to 20 hours per week based at either our Greeley History Museum or Centennial Village Museum. Work will be on Thursdays, Fridays and/or Saturdays between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, with the possibility of additional hours to support special events and programming as needed.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- At least 6 months of experience in customer service, retail, or front desk operations.
Preferred
- Associate’s degree or coursework in history, museum studies, hospitality, or a related field.
- 1 years of experience in retail, admissions, or visitor services, preferably in a museum or cultural institution.
- Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish, are a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Familiarity with museum operations and visitor engagement strategies.
- Knowledge of local history and an interest in museums or cultural heritage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience handling cash, credit card transactions, and reconciling daily sales.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ticketing or scheduling software.
- Basic proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash handling.
Essential Functions:
- Greet and assist visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Opening and closing galleries or Train Depot shop
- Cleaning/sanitizing highly trafficked areas
- Process admissions and retail transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems.
- Cash handling
- Maintain knowledge of museum exhibits, programs, and events to provide information to visitors.
- Assist with merchandising, restocking, and inventory management in the museum store.
- Handle cash, credit card, and membership transactions in compliance with financial policies.
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing visitor inquiries and concerns promptly.
- Support special events and museum programs as needed.
- Ensure the front desk, retail area, and visitor spaces remain clean, organized, and presentable.
- Monitor visitor feedback and report issues or suggestions to the Visitor Services Supervisor.
