Anticipated Salary Range: $15.14 - $16.00
This is a part-time position.
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Shop Foreman, this candidate assists mechanics and shop personnel by performing basic duties related to the overall operations of the Equipment Maintenance Department, with the primary focus being allowing the mechanics to focus on repairs. This position would require someone that's interested and enthusiastic to help with whatever is needed. Some examples of responsibilities would be: shop clean-up; transporting vehicles; answering phones and taking messages; parts pick-up and delivery; logging on specific repairs for the mechanic, assisting the mechanic with repairs as needed; assisting customers; and other duties as assigned. An ideal candidate is someone that is willing to do whatever is needed to facilitate effective shop operations and is comfortable switching from task to task.

Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

- Familiarity with basic automotive tools, parts, and shop equipment.
- Understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair terminology is a plus.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Detail-oriented, particularly in maintaining accurate records and inventory.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Comfortable communicating with vendors, customers, and team members.
- Polite and professional demeanor when assisting customers.

Essential Functions:
- Transporting vehicles for maintenance from customers to shop or to other repair facilities; transporting auction vehicles to preferred destinations.
- Delivery and pick up parts from various vendors.
- Cleans and maintains shop facilities and equipment.
- Assist with Motorpool program by; making sure vehicles are clean, full of fuel and ready to go; sign in and out, pick-up and delivery to customers
- Ordering and stocking parts as needed.
- Assist with vehicle repairs when needed
- Assist mechanics by maintaining both electronic and hand written records of work performed and the need for future servicing.
- Drives vehicles/ equipment and other motorized equipment as needed. (CDL not required.)
- Follows oral and written instructions from shop Foreman, Service Writer and Technicians.
- Orders automotive parts and supplies; maintains cooperative relationships with automotive parts and supply vendors.
- Familiar with operation and maintenance of tools, parts and equipment used in automotive shops.
- Respond to emergency road calls and assist technician to repair vehicles as necessary.

- There may exist the opportunity to train and assist with the mechanic(s) in performing moderate to complex overhaul and repair work on engines, transmissions, drive unit, brakes, suspension systems, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, alternators, electrical systems, instrumentations and other necessary power equipment.
- Performs other related work as required and assigned.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data/figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading of printed materials; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices--graphs and gauges; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
- Employee is required to have visual acuity for close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Employee is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machinery where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach and to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Employee is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures for inspection purposes.
- Moderate to considerable physical effort that includes working from ladders in awkward positions, frequent use of light or medium weight objects (e.g., 30 lbs) and use of medium weight tools; walking on uneven ground or having to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach while performing duties; entering/exiting manholes or vaults; walking near or across rivers and ditches; working in all weather conditions at times of excessive temperatures of heat and extreme cold, working in or near moving traffic with appropriate traffic control set up;
- The essential functions of this job require frequent balancing, bending/stooping, carrying/lifting light to heavy objects, climbing, fingering, grasping, repetitive motion, hearing, sitting, standing, talking, and walking. Occasionally the employee will be required to pull, push, reach, feel temperature, and kneel.
