General Description
Responsible for providing customer service, sales transactions, and receiving rehab wildlife.
Examples of Duties
- Welcomes visitors and responds to inquiries. Answers incoming phone calls.
- Fills corn bags. Sells corn and staffs counter when visitor traffic is high. Monitors inventory of corn and bags and notifies supervisor when the supply is low.
- Receives sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife. Inputs wildlife admissions records into computer. Transfers animals to exam room. Assists with rehab animals in quarantine, isolation, and nursery.
- Socializes animals for programs and interacts with visitors. Monitors visitor behavior and polices restrooms.
- Completes wildlife admission cards neatly and accurately.
- Picks up litter in Observation, Rehabilitation, and Bird of Prey Trail areas. Sweeps spilled corn in Observation Building.
- Shovels snow.
- Follows all policies, procedures, and the philosophy that is set forth by the City of Green Bay Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required
- Course work in basic computer skills desirable.
- Cash handling, recordkeeping, and customer service experience desirable.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Some knowledge and skill in handling animals and proper customer service techniques.
- Skill and ability in cash handling.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to read and perform basic calculations. Ability to utilize a computer and the required software. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to work the required hours of the position.
Ability to perform the following activities:
- Lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
- Frequent standing, sitting, and walking.
- Occasional bending, twisting, squatting, crouching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to work in varied environmental conditions.
