Under direct supervision, perform unskilled and semi-skilled work in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment process and collection system, storm water installations, and related equipment and facilities.
Clean catch basins, clean ditches, cut weeds, spray herbicide, scarify sand filter, clean equipment, concrete work, soil compaction, repair sewer lines, painting, janitorial work.
Perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled activities in the maintenance and repair of water distribution facilities including maintaining and repairing water meters, booster stations, fire hydrants, and water mains.
Operate light equipment such as trucks, jack hammers, meter test bench, and a variety of hand tools.
Perform other related job duties as assigned.Knowledge of:
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, twist, and grasp; lift, carry, push, or pull heavy weights up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis; climb up and down a ladder; exposure to hot, cold, outdoors, chemicals, mechanical hazards; ability to travel to different sites and locations.
- Seasonal Operations Assistants do not exercise any supervision.
- These positions report to the Environmental Systems Superintendent. In his/her absence, they may report a full-time Environmental Systems Technician.
The following functions & duties are typical for this position. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address City needs and changing business practices.
